An Sulaire is linked to the history of the Ness boats of a bygone time and which were used in the north east of Lewis to fish for herring. Also to the people who sailed in those boats and their way of life. She passes some of the experiece those people had to us and allows us a glimps of how they lived and sailed.

In her own right, An Sulaire has travelled far since her launch in 1994. Many of her journeys have brought back stories of adventures. It is not possible to show all of the people who have sailed and helped maintain An Sulaire over the years, so these images are representative of the many.

When she is underway with a good wind and an experienced hand at the tiller An Sulaire is no slouch. She has raced against other boats at home and away. Adrian Morgan, who writes for Classic Boat, likened her to the sleekness of the historical Fyfe racing yachts.

This galery is dedicated to the people who have sailed An Sulaire and who have made their mark in the tales that are told of those adventures under sail and oar.
